Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15th, 1961) is an American actress. Since the late 80s, Angela Evelyn has worked in film and TV. The actress has won many awards, including 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was born at Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by an aunt and Uncle in New York New York. Bassett and her sister, at the age of five old, made the move from New York to St. Petersburg to live with the mother of their divorced father. Bassett decided to be an actor after watching the production Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. Yale University New Haven Connecticut awarded her a bachelor's degree (1980), in African American study, and a graduate degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. She met Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree on African American studies, in the year 1980.
